John C. York, MD, FACAAI

Dr. York is Board Certified by The American Board of Allergy & Immunology, a conjoint board of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics. This represents fulfillment of the most stringent credentialing process in the world. He is Board Certified by the ABAI to treat both Adults and Children with Allergy and Asthma.

A native Texan, Dr. York earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Baylor University.

He then completed four years of Medical School at the University of Texas Medical Branch, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree.

With the plan of becoming an Allergist, Dr. York completed a three-year Internal Medicine residency at the University of Oklahoma. He then passed the Board Certification examination in Internal Medicine.

He fulfilled his Allergy Subspecialty training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, being the first to complete a three-year combined Allergy & Immunology / Rheumatology Fellowship. While there, he was honored by election to the Board of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology, a position awarded to only one Fellow-In-Training in the United States a year.

After his fellowship he joined a well-respected private practice allergy clinic in Houston, where he became a Partner, and practiced in Houston for several years.

Then, in 2001, he moved to El Paso with his wife Deborah Ortega MD (a native of El Paso), who is Vice-Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, El Paso.
